What Synq was building
Purdue's competition recap describes the Fall 2025 pitch as a DevOps tool giving developers the visibility to eliminate merge conflicts and improve collaboration.
Earlier founder posts described Synq more broadly as a unified version-control and project-management platform intended to reduce merge conflicts, tool switching, and setup complexity for developer teams.
Early versions included:
- a CLI intended to simplify collaboration;
- live syncing;
- file locking;
- a web dashboard for sharing and version tracking; and
- project-management functionality.
Later product material continued to focus on making repository changes easier to understand and coordinate in real time.
Before Burton Morgan
Synq had already been publicly testing the idea months before the final. The founders posted about surveys, a proof of concept, a waitlist, and an MVP during Summer 2025.
That makes Synq a useful example of a team entering Burton Morgan with an already-active student project and using the competition as another structured validation step.
